On February 13, 1982, Bro. James Miller FSC was martyred in Guatemala. This significant event is being commemorated throughout the Institute, with materials prepared by the Bro. James' home district, the Midwest District. In LI-NE, all ministries are using that CD to raise awareness of Bro. James's life and the significance of his death. In one of the prayers in a recommended Prayer Service, we have recited these words, "Loving and Faithful God, as You have called Brother Santiago, James, to a life of complete sacrifice for the marginalized, guide us always towards the concerns of the poor." May we be inspired by the life of Bro. James Miller to indeed remain faithful to our Lasallian commitment to the poor and marginalized. On this very anniversary day, the delegates from the Western Hemisphere for the 2007 General Chapter are convening in Guatemala to prepare for the May meetings in Rome. May the Spirit of the Founder and of James Miller continue to direct and guide the hearts of our own Bro. Edmond and all the capitulants.
