On Wednesday, January 17, Mary Jo Smith, a Lasallian colleague from La Salle College HS outside Philadelphia, had surgery to remove a cancerous growth. Her peritoneal cancer is similar in diagnosis and treatment to ovarian cancer. Once she recovers from the surgery, she will begin chemotherapy. We would invite all to join in prayer for her quick and full recovery.
Mary Jo is known throughout the region for her participation in the LLI and her district's Mission and Ministry Council, as well as for being in the Buttimer Institute. She has been part of the planning group, with Margaret Hayes and Jean Ricci, on a retreat for Brothers and colleagues this coming summer.
