LASALLIAN TEACHER IMMERSION PROGRAM OF MIDWEST DISTRICT BEGINS

On Sunday, January 14, the Midwest District's Lasallian Teacher Immersion Program started at Wildwood Missouri. The program was created by Bro. Patrick Conway (pictured above), who spent the 2005-2006 promoting the program among the high schools and colleges of the Midwest District. The LTIP brings together college men who aspire to be teachers and who commit to two semesters during college when they live together and work in Lasallian ministries.
After a Fall semester of study, these six pioneers are now engaged in a semester of immersion, first at Holy Family Catholic Worker in Kansas City and then at San Miguel, Chicago and concluding at Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis. During these immersions, they will have classes in addition to the experiences. Upon completion of the three immersions, they will have a one-week experience in which they will process their time in the context of a retreat. Time will also be provided for completing academic requirements from their colleges. At the end of the semester, the successful students will have received 16 credits from their respective universities.
We wish much success to the facilitators, Brothers Patrick and Stephen Markham and especially to the participants Albert Escanilla and Andrew Knobbe (both of Lewis University); and Spencer Macklin, Adam Runge, Jim Trebisovsky, and Tim Uselman (of St. Mary's University).
