The LINE District is happy to announce the appointment of Brother Charles Kitson as the Institute's new Secretary for the Lasallian Family and Association. Brother Alvaro Rodriguez, Superior General, made the appointment on February 9, feast of San Miguel Febres Cordero, FSC. Brother Charles will leave for our Motherhouse in Rome in late August to begin his new ministry.
Brother's new position will find him traveling around the Lasallian world fostering and animating our lay partners to greater participation in the charism of our founder, St. John Baptist De La Salle. He will be asked to coordinate the many Lasallian Volunteer movements around the world as well as mentor the newly formed group known as "Young Lasallians." Upon his return from Guatemala in 1993, Brother has been doing clinical social work with the Latino community in the greater Providence area. Currently this work finds him ministering at the RI State Training School for Boys.
Since 2003 he has also been the part-time school social worker at the San Miguel School in Providence as well as the coach of the school's dance team! He resides at the Miguel House Lasallian Community in Providence.
