On Wednesday, February 21, Bro. Robert Wickman, President of Justin-Siena HS in Napa (and Brother of the LI-NE District), announced the appointment of Noel Laird Hesser as the next Principal of the Catholic, Lasallian, college preparatory school. He will begin his service on July 1, 2007.
After a six month search that considered candidates from California, Oregon, Louisiana, Michigan, Connecticut, New York, Maryland and Australia, the search committee recommended Mr. Hesser. Bro. Robert, echoing the sentiments of the search committee, found Mr. Hesser to be a man of vision, integrity, kindness and creativity. An excerpt from Mr. Hesser's statement of educational philosophy submitted to the search committee, captures well his vision: "In short, good education addresses the needs of the whole person and provides students with the tools to think critically, to solve problems, to develop faith and Christian character, and to live out that faith in service to others. In a school setting, every student must be engaged in this learning process, a particular challenge to educators who must balance corporate needs, such as addressing standards, with individualized instruction and character development, which accomodate a diversity of learning styles, abilities and personal needs. This human and Christain education needs to be inclusive, recognizing that all students, regardless of background, deserve the opportunity for success that such an education will provide. Finally, the entire educational community must work together in unity of purpose to foster an environment dedicated to the goal of touching the hearts of students academically, socially and spiritually." At present, Mr. Hesser serves as Asst. Principal for Curriculum and Instruction at Christian Brothers HS in Sacramento. His wife, Mary (who is known to many Lasallians here in LI-NE) is the Director of Guidance at CBHS, Sacramento. Congratulations to Mr. Noel Laird Hesser.
