The Martin De Porres School was founded in 1972 as a collaborative effort between the De LaSalle Christian Brothers and lay colleagues from the public and private sector advocating educational quality for young men and women from poverty and troubled backgrounds. Our school is chartered and funded by the New York State Department of Education and serves children from all boroughs of New York City and several school districts of Nassau County. In September 2002, Martin de Porres launched a new High School program in Brooklyn. The new school occupies the top floor of Bishop Ford High School and brings the total number of students Martin de Porres serves to 290. Our staff of 80 adults share in our mission of "Touching the Hearts and Minds" of the youth who have been entrusted to our care.
